Pearson's Words Their Way: Word Study in Action Developmental Model
We are currently accepting applications for schools and districts to participate in this upcoming research study.
Words Their Way: Word Study in Action Developmental Model focuses on
improving phonics, spelling, and vocabulary for struggling elementary school
students. The program uses a developmentally-driven, hands-on approach that
provides instruction based on developmental spelling stages. Activities such
as sorting tasks, word hunts, games, drawing, and labeling are used to
improve student literacy.
This study will be conducted in a number of schools across the country
during the 2010-2011 school year. At this time, we are actively seeking
qualified schools to participate with us in this research project. The
program will be tested in pull-out intervention programs in grades 2 and 4.
Participating schools and teachers will receive a number of incentives for their participation including free program materials and teacher stipends.
For more information about this study, please review our Words Their Way: Word Study in Action - Information for Interested Schools document.
If your school or district is interested in particating, please complete the Words Their Way Information Request Form and return it to us via email or fax. A research program manager will contact you to discuss the program participation requirements.
We are also conducting a research study of the Pearson Reality Central and Prentice Hall SummaryScorer programs in grades 7 and 8. Please click here for more information.
As an independent research company we conduct
scientifically rigorous studies while still working closely with schools to
meet the unique educational needs of their students.
We are excited to work with schools interested in improving literacy of
struggling students!
